German President Kцhler visits Croatia ... soccer championship kicks off in a couple of hours' time with the opening match between co-hosts Switzerland and the Czech Republic in Basel.
The other co-hosts, Austria play their first match against Croatia on Sunday. Also on Sunday, Germany begin their campaign to win their first European championship since 1996, when they take on Poland in Klagenfurt.
