The United States and Asia's four largest economic powers have voiced concern about the surging price of oil.
US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman told reporters in the Japanese town of Aomori that the record oil prices were an economic shock. Following a meeting with his Japanese, Chinese, Indian and South Korean counterparts, Bodman also warned oil producing countries that it would do them no good if the US took a major hit, because it remained a significant engine in the global economy.
