Nepalese state media say the newly elected constituent assembly has failed to elect the country's first president.
Lawmakers of the 601-member body cast their votes for three presidential candidates in Kathmandu on Saturday in the first presidential vote the country has seen. Nepal has been in political limbo since the constitutional assembly sacked unpopular king Gyanendra and abolished the 240-year-old Hindu monarchy on May 28.
