Bush says committed to Middle East peace efforts ... White House. Following Obama's hour-long meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat told reporters that Obama said he wanted to be a "constructive" partner in peace efforts.
Earlier, in Jerusalem, Obama pledged to preserve the close relationship between the US and Israel if elected. He also laid a wreath at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial.
