Next for Nepal? ... followed the sacking of king Gyanendra and the abolition of the 240-year-old monarchy. Prachanda had led a decade-long insurgency to overthrow Nepal's monarchy - a struggle that cost thousands of lives. He signed a peace deal with mainstream parties in 2006 and his party went on to gain a surprise victory in April elections.
