According to eyewitnesses in the western Georgian town of Poti, Russian troops have also carried off equipment from the town's harbor and air field. Russia, however, has denied reports that it has blown up a key railroad bridge west of the capital. The United States and Germany have called Russia's invasion "an excessive use of force" and have demanded the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops from Georgian territory.
