In Berlin, the 2008 consumer electronics trade show IFA has opened to the general public.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was there to inaugurate the 48th edition of the world's largest trade show of its kind, which for the first time includes home appliances. More than 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries are presenting their newest wares at the six-day fair.
