Mugabe promises to "fight" to retain power ... Africa, more than two weeks after they stalled due to a deadlock.
The talks include Mugabe's ZANU-PF party and two factions of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change. They follow threats by President Robert Mugabe to form a government without opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, even though Tsvangirai's MDC has a majority in parliament. The MDC has said such a move would mean an end to talks. Zimbabwe has been in the grip of a political crisis since March presidential elections in which Tsvangirai took the most votes. A second poll in June was won by Mugabe, but only after Tsvangirai withdrew over a spate of killings of MDC supporters by Mugabe's followers.
