The Pakistani army says it has killed over 30 militants including their local commander in North-Western Frontier province.
A military spokesman said fighter jets and helicopter gunships had targeted a militant hideout in the restive Swat valley late on Friday. The assault reportedly continued through the night until after dawn on Saturday. Violence has intensified in recent weeks in three different parts of Pakistan's northwest. The United States says al Qaeda and Taliban militants based in Pakistani tribal areas on the Afghan border are responsible for attacks in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
