Italy has agreed to pay Libya about 3.5 billion euros compensation for abuses committed during its colonial rule of the North African country.
The 30-year occupation ended in 1943. The compensation deal was signed by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in Benghazi on Saturday.
