Nagin described Gustav as "the storm of the century" and urged all residents to comply with the evacuation demand. The evacuation order is the first in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city three years ago. Katrina grew into a top Category 5 hurricane while crossing the Gulf but finally hit the US as a Category 3.
