31.08.2008 - Thai Parliament holds crisis session

Thailand's Parliament has convened for an emergency session in a bid to resolve the country's spiralling political crisis.

The Czech Republic news are represented by www.prague-czech-republic-travel.com

Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej has vowed that he will not resign despite growing pressure from anti-government protesters. The opposition People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) have already staged six days of protests aimed at toppling Samak's government. Protesters have occupied government buildings in Bangkok and disrupted air and rail traffic throughout the country. The conservative PAD accuses Samak of being an illegitimate proxy of ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted in a military coup in 2006.
