Foreigners in Germany who aspire to become German citizens are now required to pass a test on German customs and history.
The Interior Ministry has presented a catalogue of 310 multiple-choice questions for citizenship applicants. Would-be citizens will be presented with 33 of the questions, and will be required to answer 17 of them correctly. The new law goes into effect today September 1. Each year more than 100,000 foreigners take on German citizenship, the majority of them come from Turkey.
