US Vice President Dick Cheney is in Georgia.
That's the latest stop on his tour of three former Soviet states, which is meant to signal support for its government after the country's military conflict with Russia last month. Following a meeting with President Mikhail Saakashvili in the capital, Tbilisi, Cheney stressed the need to resolve the status of Georgia's two separatist regions. Cheney is the highest-ranking US official to visit Georgia since it tried to retake the breakaway region of South Ossetia by force early last month.
