CSSD has never had any post of regional governors and in this election term, it is only present in coalitions in some regional assemblies. On the other hand, regional governors elected for the ODS are heading all regions except the South Moravian (Jihomoravsky).Paroubek said earlier the party had set as its objective to win the elections this year.
He repeated the goal today. He said the party wanted to break the monopoly of the ODS not only in the regions, but also in the Senate."The elections will say whether the government can continue with the reform or whether it will have to adapt its policies or whether this government will sooner or later quit," Paroubek said. The CSSD mainly criticises the health care policy and tax reform of the current government.Paroubek said earlier that if the Social Democrats won the elections, they would cancel some measures adopted by the ODS.The regional elections in the Czech Republic will be held on October 17-18 along with the first round of the Senate elections. There are 13 regions in the Czech Republic. In the Senate, one third of the 81 mandates will be contested.
