German Defence Minister Franz Josef Jung has criticised the United States over an air raid on targets in Pakistan in which as many as 20 people were killed earlier this week.

Air crash kills Kenyan ministers ... met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ahmed Mukhtar and the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, General Tariq Majid. The German defence minister said they assured him that Pakistan remained committed to the US-declared war on terror and tightening security along the country's border with Afghanistan. Islamist militants fighting against international and government forces in Afghanistan are known to use Pakistan's tribal border region as a base from which to regroup.
