Angola's largest opposition party has said it will contest the results of the country's parliamentary election, as the ruling party of President Jose Eduardo Dos Santos seeems headed for a landslide victory.
The UNITA leader said the two-day voting had been badly flawed and did not reflect the wishes of the Angolan people. This is Angola's first election in 16 years and comes during a time of fragile political stability. The International community has taken a particular interest in the voting after the recent election controversies in Kenya and Zimbabwe and Angola's emergence as a major oil producer. Official results are expected to be announced early this week.
