Pope Benedict XVI has wrapped up the second day of his current trip to France with a plea not to forget the victims of violence, hatred and poverty.
The Pontiff was speaking following a torchlight procession through Lourdes in the south of the country. The 81-year-old Benedict was in Lourdes on a pilgrimage to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary to a 14-year-old peasant girl. Earlier in the day he held an open air mass in Paris, which was attended by more than 200,000 worshippers.
