The talks are part of a series of meetings between the European Union and Iran aimed at resolving Iran's nuclear standoff with the West. The Berlin meeting comes as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a new report on Iran's nuclear programme. The report says Iran has failed to provide information that would clear up allegations it was conducting research for a nuclear weapons programme. Germany belongs to the group of six world powers attempting to convince Tehran to halt sensitive nuclear work in exchange for economic incentives.
