Kiefer out of Wimbledon ... the ruling ANC was sworn in at a ceremony in Cape Town. He replaces Thabo Mbeki, who was ousted in an internal party power struggle last week. His mandate runs until general elections, which are to be held next year. One of Kgalema Motlanthe's first tasks will be to appoint a new cabinet, after 11 of Mbeki's cabinet ministers and three deputy ministers resigned on Tuesday. Mbeki bowed to an ANC call to resign following a damning court ruling that hinted he was instrumental in a decision to prosecute his long-time rival and ANC leader Jacob Zuma.
