At least 17 people have been killed and a dozen injured in a car bomb blast in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
State television has reported that a car rigged with 200 kilograms of explosives blew up on the city's airport road near a popular Shi'ite shrine. It was not clear who or what was targeted in the explosion. Just last month, a senior military officer was killed at a beach resort under mysterious circumstances.
