Turkey's military has said 15 of its soldiers have been killed in the southeast of the country in an attack by Kurdish rebels who are based in northern Iraq.
The Anatolia news agency quoted an army spokesman as saying that the rebels attacked a Turkish military outpost near the border with Iraq. Some media reports said over 20 Kurdish rebels were also killed in the fighting. Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) rebels based in Turkey and northern Iraq have been fighting for autonomy since 1984.
